Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness recently visited India to strengthen bilateral relations. Contrary to some reports, the Lok Sabha Secretariat confirmed that PM Holness’s carcade was not stopped at the Parliament House gates and he was given due protocol. During his visit, he toured the new Parliament Building, including the Constitution Hall and Central Hall in Samvidhan Sadan.
Earlier, PM Holness experienced the spiritual Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna. He also visited the Trade Facilitation Centre, Craft Museum, and Sarnath Museum, expressing admiration for India’s cultural heritage.
Holness emphasized the importance of cooperation with India, recognizing its rapid economic growth and innovation. He highlighted “cricket diplomacy” as a means to enhance ties, praising India’s cricket achievements and receiving commendation from PM Modi for Jamaica’s track and field success.
This visit marks the first bilateral engagement of a Jamaican Prime Minister in India, aiming to boost economic cooperation and cultural ties. Both nations look forward to a future of enhanced collaboration across various sectors.
