Jalal Yunus Resigns from Bangladesh Cricket Board

Dhaka [Bangladesh], August 19: Jalal Yunus has stepped down as the director and chairman of the cricket operations committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The National Sports Council, which oversees 41 sports bodies in Bangladesh, requested his resignation.

Yunus, a former Bangladesh pacer who played in the 1980s, has been a sports organizer since the late 1990s. He held a crucial position in the BCB since 2009 and became the head of cricket operations in 2021. Yunus stated, “I have resigned for the greater interest of cricket. I am all for cricket running properly and correctly. I don’t want to be a stumbling block for cricket’s progress.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is set to play a two-match Test series against Pakistan starting on August 21. The second Test will be held from August 30 to September 3 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan has announced their playing eleven, including top pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Ali. Bangladesh is yet to announce their squad.
