Jaishankar’s Visit to Singapore: Strengthening Bilateral Ties
On November 8, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Singapore as part of his two-state tour. He met with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong to discuss enhancing the partnership between India and Singapore. Their discussions focused on industrial parks, innovation, and semiconductors.
Jaishankar shared on social media that they also talked about green energy and skilling. He is scheduled to address the 8th Roundtable of ASEAN – India Network of Think Tanks. ASEAN includes countries like Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, and India has a strong relationship with ASEAN through the Act East Policy.
Jaishankar’s visit follows Singapore’s Defence Minister Dr. Ng Eng Hen’s visit to India, where he co-chaired the India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue. Singapore is a key partner in India’s Act East Policy, and the Indian community makes up about 9.2% of Singapore’s population.
Before Singapore, Jaishankar visited Australia from November 3 to November 7, aiming to strengthen ties with both countries.
