Jairam Thakur Inspects Flood Damage in Kullu, PM Modi Assures Help

On Saturday, Himachal Pradesh leader of Opposition and BJP leader, Jairam Thakur, visited the flood-affected areas of Kullu. He expressed concern over the significant damage and mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised all possible assistance to the state.

Thakur stated, “The situation here is a matter of concern. The people were not able to recover from the past situations and this incident has occurred again. A huge loss has happened. Several people are missing. Rescue is underway by the central government and PM Modi has also assured that he will provide all possible help to the state.”

On August 2, Thakur met with PM Modi to discuss the catastrophic flood that devastated parts of Himachal Pradesh. Thakur congratulated PM Modi for leading the country for the third time and provided detailed information about the tragedy. PM Modi assured full cooperation and immediate deployment of central forces, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), for relief and rescue operations.

Earlier, the Indian Army launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in Samej village, Himachal Pradesh. The road to the incident site was blocked due to a land shift, so troops moved on foot to reach the affected area.

Himachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh commented on the situation, saying, “Samej village is completely damaged, people’s houses are destroyed. This is a very sad situation. We need to be alert. The Chief Minister has spoken to the Union Home Minister, and he has assured us of help. We are confident that we will get help from the central government.”

Currently, 47 people are missing in various parts of the state, including 36 in the Samej area of the Rampur Region in Shimla district. Rescue and search operations are ongoing, with the state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, mobilizing extensive efforts. The disaster, caused by a cloud burst, has particularly affected regions around Manali.

Chief Minister Sukhu urged tourists to exercise caution, saying, “While tourists are welcome, I urge them to refrain from visiting risky areas such as rivers and waterfalls for photography and selfies,” emphasizing the importance of safety during this critical period.
