Jairam Thakur Confident of BJP Victory in Himachal Pradesh Bypolls
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 9: Ahead of bypolls in three Assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh, Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win all three seats.
Campaigning for the bypolls in Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh ended on Monday evening, with polling set for July 10. Thakur criticized Chief Minister Sukhu for not holding the by-elections alongside the Lok Sabha elections, accusing him of trying to influence the results.
Thakur stated, “These elections are very important. Despite a Congress government in the state, we led on 61 of the 68 assembly seats and won all 4 Lok Sabha seats. The CM is trying to influence the elections now, but I am confident that the BJP will win all three Assembly segments.”
In the Dehra segment, candidates include Kamlesh (INC), Hoshyar Singh (BJP), and independents Sulekha Devi, Arun Ankesh Syal, and Advocate Sanjay Sharma. In Hamirpur, candidates are Ashish Sharma (BJP), Dr. Pushpinder Verma (INC), and independents Pradeep Kumar and Nand Lal Sharma. For Nalagarh, candidates are Hardeep Singh Bawa (INC), KL Thakur (BJP), Kishori Lal Sharma (Swabhiman Party), and independents Gurnam Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Vijay Singh.
The seats became vacant after three independent MLAs resigned and joined the BJP.
