Jairam Thakur Accuses Congress of Scams in Himachal Pradesh

Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 5: Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur criticized the Congress government for corruption, claiming they are setting records for scams in the state.

Thakur stated, “The scams of the Congress government have started coming to light and every day, new cases are coming up. This is just the beginning. The Congress government is going to create a record of scams in the state.”

He made these remarks while campaigning for BJP candidate KL Thakur in Nalagarh for the upcoming by-elections. The by-elections for Hamirpur, Nalagarh, and Dehra assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh are scheduled for July 10.

Thakur also mentioned a scam worth more than Rs 60 crore in the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board. He said, “To benefit their favourites, the government allotted a tender of Rs 175 crore for Rs 240 crore. The scam of Rs 60 crore was done to benefit whom and at whose behest was it done? The government should answer this.”

Targeting the state Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Thakur added, “The Chief Minister should answer these questions. Instead of developing the state, the government is working to take the state backwards. The state government is only interested in scams and has no concern with the people of the state.”

Thakur accused Congress of making false promises to come to power and now engaging in scams. He said, “Only one and a half years have passed, only time will tell what the government will do in the future.”

He further criticized the government for failing to provide relief to victims of heavy rains that occurred a year ago. Thakur said, “The Chief Minister is just trying to run the government by lying. One year has passed since the disaster caused by heavy rains in the state, but till now the government has not been able to provide relief to the victims.”

While addressing the public meeting in Nalagarh’s Sai Chadog and Lunas, Thakur expressed confidence in BJP’s win, stating, “The people of Nalagarh are not afraid of the corrupt policies of the government. The people of the state including Nalagarh have rejected the Congress government of the state even in the first by-election, there is no future for the Congress government in the state in the coming times.”

Thakur asserted, “BJP will win all three seats with huge votes. The development of the state will pick up pace again under the BJP government.”
