Jaipur Prepares for Ganesh Chaturthi with Eco-Friendly Idols
In Jaipur, the excitement for Ganesh Chaturthi is palpable as preparations are in full swing. A sculptor explained, “We start preparing for this festival about 6 months in advance. It takes time to get dried. All the parts are made separately, and then they are combined. Then we apply plaster and then color the idols. The whole family contributes in different ways to making the idols. It takes 8 to 10 days to make a big idol. 10 to 12 people work on each idol. We have idols ranging from 1 inch to 10 feet.”
Despite heavy rains this year affecting the stock, the demand for these eco-friendly idols remains high. Orders are coming in from different states, and sculptors are working hard to meet the diverse requirements of their customers. The stock is maintained as per the demand and bookings of the buyers.
