Jagan Mohan Reddy Criticizes TDP Government for Rising Crime in Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi, July 24: YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government of increasing crime in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Reddy questioned the state of democracy in Andhra Pradesh, claiming that equitable justice is being denied.

Reddy highlighted that within 45 days of the TDP government coming to power, over 30 murders and numerous assaults have occurred, with 490 government properties vandalized. He also accused TDP leaders, including CM Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, of displaying a ‘red book’ listing officials and politicians targeted for action.

Reddy urged the media and various democratic parties to scrutinize the situation in Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that during his tenure, such behavior was never encouraged.

In response, TDP MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao alleged that violence and murders also took place during Reddy’s tenure from 2019 to 2024, accusing Reddy of ignoring crimes committed by YSRCP members.

Earlier, Reddy, along with Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, attended a protest against the current Andhra Pradesh government at Jantar Mantar. Akhilesh Yadav criticized the ‘bulldozer culture’ and praised Reddy for standing against it. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also joined the protest.

On July 21, Reddy met Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer, requesting an investigation by central government agencies into the alleged atrocities by the TDP government. He mentioned the brutal murder of YSRCP activist Rashid in Vinukonda on July 17, which occurred in the presence of police.
