In Amravati, Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Jagan Mohan Reddy reached out to party worker Challa Nagaraju after an alleged attack in Telukutla village, Palnadu district. The YSRCP claims that supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were responsible for the attack.

Details of the Attack

On September 20, Nagaraju was reportedly ambushed by a group of 10 TDP members near Gadidala Vagu. The attackers, armed with rods and sticks, severely injured Nagaraju, breaking both his legs. He was initially treated at Gurazala Government Hospital and later transferred to GBR Hospital in Narasaraopet for further care. Doctors have indicated that surgery might be necessary for his right leg.

Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to Nagaraju over the phone, offering his condolences and wishing him a speedy recovery. He assured Nagaraju of the party’s full support during his treatment. Additionally, Reddy instructed former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy to ensure Nagaraju receives all necessary medical assistance.

Background

Nagaraju, an active YSRCP worker since the last assembly elections, has faced threats from local TDP leaders due to political rivalry. This led him to relocate from his native village of Telukutla to Pulipadu for safety.
