The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced the launch of India’s first analog space mission, which began in Leh, Ladakh. This mission is a collaborative effort led by ISRO’s Human Spaceflight Centre, in partnership with AAKA Space Studio, the University of Ladakh, IIT Bombay, and supported by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council.

Ladakh’s dry climate, high altitude, and barren terrain closely resemble Martian and lunar conditions, making it perfect for analog research. Dr. Aloke Kumar, a prominent Indian scientist, initially proposed using Ladakh for space research.
