New Delhi [India], September 18: ISRO Chairman S Somanath shared exciting news about India’s space missions. He announced that ISRO plans to launch the first module of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS-1) by 2028.

Chandrayaan 4 Mission

S Somanath explained that the Chandrayaan 4 mission will demonstrate the technology to land on the moon and return to Earth. This mission is crucial for future manned space missions, which are part of India’s vision for 2040.

Indian Space Station

The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the development of BAS-1. The goal is to have an operational space station by 2035. The Gaganyaan Programme, which started in 2018, will support this effort with human spaceflight missions to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Gaganyaan Programme

The Gaganyaan Programme aims to develop and demonstrate technologies for long-duration human space missions. It will include eight missions by December 2028, with four missions under the ongoing programme by 2026 and four more for BAS development.

Funding and Benefits

The programme’s budget has been increased to Rs 20193 Crore. This initiative will boost scientific research, technology development, and industrial participation, creating job opportunities and encouraging innovation in space and allied sectors.
