Israel’s Plan to Tackle Climate Change
48 Moves and 200 Tasks to Protect the Environment
Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection has unveiled the first phase of a national plan to prepare for climate change. This plan aims to map areas affected by climate change in Israel and outline steps to minimize risks and take advantage of opportunities.
Key Details of the Plan
The plan includes 48 moves and approximately 200 tasks that will be carried out by around 30 ministries and government bodies over the coming years. About 50% of these moves focus on building a knowledge infrastructure, executing and implementing plans, and formulating strategies.
Development of the Plan
The plan was developed based on a review of international preparation plans, previous work done in Israel, consultations with ministries and other government bodies, and input from experts. The goal is to improve Israel’s preparedness for the climate crisis.
