Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant Discusses Rocket Attack with US Secretary Lloyd Austin

On Monday, Israel’s Minister of Defence, Yoav Gallant, held a call with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin. Minister Gallant briefed Secretary Austin on a rocket attack by Hezbollah on Saturday that killed 12 Israeli children and injured 30 civilians in the northern Druze community of Majdal Shams.

Gallant informed Austin about the use of an Iranian rocket equipped with 50KG explosives and discussed evidence from the IDF indicating Hezbollah’s responsibility. He noted that the attack marked a significant escalation and emphasized that Hezbollah would be held accountable.

They discussed the defense establishment’s efforts to restore security to Israel’s northern border and the importance of achieving a framework for the return of hostages. They also talked about force build-up efforts and maintaining the Israel Defense Forces’ qualitative edge against terror groups.

Minister Gallant expressed his appreciation to Secretary Austin and the US Administration for their clear stance on Hezbollah’s attack and their ongoing commitment to Israel’s security.
