The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced that their advanced ‘Arrow’ Aerial Defense System successfully intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen. The IDF shared this news on X, stating, ‘A missile was fired from Yemen towards Israel and successfully intercepted by the ‘Arrow’ Aerial Defense System.’ Following the interception, sirens and explosions were heard due to falling shrapnel.

Calls for Ceasefire Amid Rising Tensions

Despite calls for a ceasefire with Hezbollah, Israel has refused to comply. The United States, along with the UK and Australia, has called for a 21-day ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border to prevent further escalation and to give diplomacy a chance. US Secretary of Defence Lloyd J Austin III, British Defence Secretary John Healey, and Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles voiced their support for this plan during a meeting in London.

Austin emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire, stating, ‘An immediate 21-day ceasefire will provide time for the diplomacy needed to achieve a durable arrangement that will allow Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return safely to their homes.’

Palestinian President Criticizes US Support for Israel

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the United States for its ongoing support of Israel’s military actions in Gaza. Addressing the UNGA, Abbas called on the international community to stop supplying weapons to Israel and criticized the US for vetoing UN Security Council resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Abbas stated, ‘This madness cannot continue. The entire world is responsible for what is happening to our people.’

In a significant development, the IDF announced the elimination of Muhammad Hussein Srour, Commander of Hezbollah’s Aerial Command, in a precision airstrike in Beirut. The IDF shared this news on X, stating, ‘Eliminated: Commander of Hezbollah’s Aerial Command, Muhammad Hussein Srour, in a precise IAF strike in Beirut.’
