Israel’s Ambassador Reuven Azar Talks About Water Projects in India and Lebanon Incident
New Delhi, India – Israel’s Ambassador Reuven Azar announced that Israel has deployed a water envoy in India to plan water projects using innovative solutions developed due to water scarcity in Israel. This announcement was made during the eighth India Water Week, inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
Azar highlighted the cooperation between India and Israel in creating 32 centers of excellence in agriculture, which help plan water usage and introduce effective irrigation technologies. He credited the leadership of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu for identifying water as a strategic issue for both countries.
Azar explained that Israel’s water solutions focus on four main areas: irrigation, water management networks, purification, and desalination. These technologies aim to save water, increase crop yields, prevent water degradation, and secure sustainability by preventing contamination and dealing with climate change challenges.
In addition to water projects, Azar addressed the recent pager explosions in Lebanon, which killed nine people and injured 2,800. Hezbollah blamed Israel for the explosions, but Azar dismissed these allegations as ridiculous. He emphasized the need for Hezbollah forces to move north to the Litani River to allow displaced Israeli citizens to return to their homes.
Regarding a potential meeting between PM Modi and Netanyahu in New York, Azar stated that it would depend on their schedules but would enhance cooperation between the two countries.
