Israel’s Airstrike in West Bank Kills Palestinian Islamic Jihad Leader Muhammad Abdullah
In a significant military operation, Israel has announced the killing of Muhammad Abdullah, the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group, in an airstrike at the Nur Shams refugee camp in the central West Bank. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Abdullah was appointed leader of the Iran-backed group in the Tulkarem-area camp after his predecessor, Muhammad Jabber, was killed in August.
The IDF stated that another terrorist was also killed in the airstrike, although his name was not initially disclosed. Later, the second individual was identified as Awad Omar from Bal’a. The Israeli Army accused Abdullah of organizing numerous attacks and deploying explosives against Israeli troops. During the operation, soldiers seized semi-automatic rifles and flack-jackets from the site.
In a related development, on October 9, the IDF targeted two key Hezbollah sites in Beirut’s Dahieh district. The precision strikes hit the group’s intelligence headquarters and a major weapons manufacturing facility. The IDF highlighted that Hezbollah had embedded its weapons storage facilities beneath civilian infrastructure, posing a risk to the local population. Israel stated that it had warned residents to evacuate before the strikes.
