Israeli Soccer Fans Rescued in Amsterdam Amid Violent Clashes
In Amsterdam, a night of violence erupted as Israeli soccer fans were attacked by rioters shouting “Free Palestine.” At least 10 fans were injured, and authorities advised Israelis to stay in their hotels. Community Efforts to Rescue Fans
Dovi Pinkovitch, head of the Chabad House in Amsterdam, mobilized local Jews and Israelis to help those trapped. Volunteers used private cars to transport hundreds of Israelis to safety. Among the helpers was a Jew from Germany and another from Holland, both driving hours to assist. An Israeli Druze fan, Melchem Assad, warned others to remove team symbols and avoid speaking Hebrew to stay safe.

With about 20,000 Jews in Amsterdam, Israeli nationals were told to prepare for a quick departure. Dutch police arrested over 60 suspects. Israel’s national airline received permission to fly during the Sabbath for evacuation. Dutch King Willem-Alexander expressed regret to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, promising safe returns for all Israelis.
