Israeli Military Destroys Hamas Compounds in Rafah, Gaza

The Israeli military conducted operations in Rafah, Gaza, on Sunday, targeting two Hamas compounds. They seized numerous weapons and destroyed facilities.

Raids in Tel al-Sultan

In the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood, Israeli forces raided a Hamas training ground. They found the office of the brigade’s commander, Mahmoud Hamdan, along with weapons storage and tunnel shafts. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are dismantling these facilities.

Other Raids

Soldiers also raided the office of Yasser Nett, responsible for rocket attacks, and seized more weapons and intelligence documents. Additional raids uncovered weapons caches in a Gaza university and residential homes, as well as a rocket launching site in a humanitarian zone.

Background

These operations follow Hamas’s attacks on October 7, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and 252 hostages. Of the 116 remaining hostages, more than 30 are believed dead.
