Israeli Forces Eliminate Hezbollah Commander Muhammad Hussein Srour in Beirut Airstrike

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have announced that they successfully eliminated Muhammad Hussein Srour, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Aerial Command, in a precision airstrike in Beirut. The IDF shared this news on social media, stating that Srour was responsible for advancing numerous aerial terrorist attacks targeting Israeli civilians.

According to the IDF, Srour played a significant role in the ‘Iron Swords’ war, executing several terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers using UAVs and explosive devices. In recent years, he led the manufacturing project of UAVs in southern Lebanon and established UAV manufacturing and intelligence gathering sites in Lebanon, located near civilian infrastructure in Beirut and southern Lebanon.

Srour’s responsibilities also included commanding the surface-to-air missile unit and the ‘Aziz’ Unit of the Radwan Force. He was also Hezbollah’s emissary to Yemen and the Houthi terrorist regime’s Aerial Command.

Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, the United States has called for a 21-day ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border to prevent further escalation and give diplomacy a chance. US Secretary of Defence Lloyd J Austin III, British Defence Secretary John Healey, and Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles voiced their support for this plan during a meeting in London.

Austin emphasized that the situation in Lebanon and northern Israel is deeply troubling, with Hezbollah firing rockets into Israel in an unprovoked attack following the October 7, 2023, terrorist assault by Hamas. He stressed that a diplomatic solution is the only way to ensure that displaced civilians on both sides of the border can return home safely.

Austin called for an immediate 21-day ceasefire to provide time for diplomacy and to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, allowing all hostages to return home.
