Israeli Forces Discover Hezbollah Weapons in Southern Lebanon Homes

In a significant operation, Israeli forces have uncovered weapons belonging to Hezbollah hidden in civilian homes in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showing the seized items, which included mines, Kalashnikov rifles, combat vests, and Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missiles. These weapons were reportedly intended for a Hezbollah invasion of the Galilee.

The IDF reported engaging in direct combat, eliminating terrorists, and dismantling terrorist infrastructure along the border. They also discovered tunnel systems with living quarters for Hezbollah fighters. Airstrikes coordinated by ground troops have resulted in the deaths of numerous Hezbollah terrorists.

Sarit Zahavi, president of the Alma Research Center, highlighted Hezbollah’s strategy of using civilian homes for military purposes, including storing weapons and launching attacks. She noted that in Shi’ite villages in southern Lebanon, every third house is used by Hezbollah for military activities.

In recent operations, the IDF targeted over 200 Hezbollah sites, including rocket launchers and ammunition depots. Hezbollah launched 320 missiles, rockets, and drones during the Yom Kippur holiday, with one drone hitting a retirement home in Herzliya, though no injuries were reported.

Following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, Hezbollah, backed by Iran, began attacking northern Israeli communities, resulting in 51 deaths and displacing over 68,000 residents. Israeli officials are demanding Hezbollah’s disarmament and removal from southern Lebanon, in line with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
