Israeli Airstrikes in Beirut: Key Hezbollah and PFLP Commanders Eliminated

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) conducted targeted airstrikes in Beirut, resulting in the death of Eid Hassan Nashar, a high-ranking commander of Hezbollah’s Medium-Range Rocket Unit. The IDF shared on X, ‘Dismantled: Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force. IAF fighter jets struck and eliminated commanders and infrastructure over the last week.’

According to the IDF, Eid Hassan Nashar held key leadership roles within Hezbollah, including Commander of the Surface-to-Surface Rocket Unit and Deputy Commander of the Badr Unit. The IDF stated, ‘Eid was a veteran commander in Hezbollah and played a significant role in the unit’s day-to-day operations.’

Additionally, the IDF eliminated the commander, deputy commander, and other commanders of Hezbollah’s Precision Missile Unit, responsible for recent attacks on central Israel. The IDF also dismantled a Hezbollah surface-to-air missile launcher storage facility near Beirut’s international airport, which posed a threat to Lebanese and international airspace.

A day earlier, the IDF announced the deaths of Nidal Abdel-Aal and Imad Odeh from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and Fateh Sherif from Hamas’ Lebanon branch. Nidal Abdel-Aal was involved in planning and executing terror attacks against Israel, including a bus bombing and a shooting attack in 2023.
