Israeli Air Strike on Gaza School and Mosque Kills 93 People

At least 93 people were killed in an Israeli air strike on a school and mosque in Gaza, according to local officials. The attack occurred at the Al-Tabi’in compound in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City during dawn prayers.

Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said, “We recovered at least 90 people who had been killed, many of them are torn apart, many are still unidentified.”

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike, stating it targeted Hamas terrorists operating within a command and control center in the building. The IDF claimed to have taken steps to mitigate civilian harm, including using precise munitions and aerial surveillance.

This is the fifth strike on a school in Gaza by the Israeli military since last Sunday. The UN Human Rights Office expressed horror at the escalating attacks on Gazan schools.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Israeli military activity has resulted in about 40,000 Palestinian deaths and over 90,000 injuries. Nearly the entire population of Gaza, around 2 million people, has been displaced due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The conflict escalated after an October 7 attack by Hamas, where about 2,500 terrorists breached the border into Israel, leading to casualties and hostages. Israel aims to eliminate Hamas’ infrastructure while minimizing civilian casualties.
