Israeli Air Force Strikes Hezbollah Rocket Launchers Amid Rising Tensions
Tel Aviv, Israel – On August 25, around 100 Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets targeted and destroyed thousands of Hezbollah rocket launcher barrels aimed at northern and central Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that more than 40 Hezbollah launch areas were struck.
In a statement, the IDF emphasized their commitment to defending Israeli civilians and the state. They posted on X, “Approx. 100 IAF fighter jets struck and eliminated thousands of Hezbollah rocket launcher barrels, aimed for immediate fire toward northern and central Israel. More than 40 Hezbollah launch areas were struck. We will do whatever is needed to defend our civilians and the State of Israel.”
Earlier in the day, Israel declared a 48-hour emergency due to escalating tensions with Lebanon. Israel’s Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, announced the emergency, which allows the IDF Home Front Command to issue restrictions to protect civilians. This “special situation” status can be extended by cabinet ministers if necessary.
The IDF reported that Hezbollah had launched over 150 projectiles from Lebanon toward Israeli territory, targeting civilians. In response, the IDF is focusing on terrorist infrastructure.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, warned Lebanese citizens in southern Lebanon of potential Israeli attacks in retaliation to Hezbollah strikes. He stated, “We warn the Lebanese citizens who are in southern Lebanon; we recognize that Hezbollah is now preparing to shoot widely into Israeli territory near your home. You are in danger. We attack and remove Hezbollah threats. Anyone who is near the areas where Hezbollah operates is required to stay away from them immediately.”
Hagari also mentioned that Hezbollah might launch rockets, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles towards Israel. The Home Front Command will provide “life-saving” instructions and updates on protected areas.
