Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Israel’s security forces for their efforts in recovering the soldier’s body. He stated, “Tonight, our forces returned to Israel the body of an IDF veteran, whose name was not allowed to be published. The fighter fell in a heroic battle on October 7 while defending the settlements surrounding Gaza.” Netanyahu and his wife Sara extended their heartfelt condolences to the soldier’s family.

The news follows the recent rescue of Farhan Al Qadi, a 52-year-old resident of Rahat, by the army. The October 7 attacks by Hamas resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 252 hostages. Of the 103 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead. Hamas has also been holding two Israeli civilians and the bodies of two soldiers since 2014 and 2015.
