Israel Launches Missile Attacks on Beirut Amid Tensions with Hezbollah

On October 21, Israel initiated a new series of missile attacks on the southern region of Beirut. This action followed a warning from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to a group accused of funding Hezbollah. Earlier, Israel had targeted Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, resulting in 73 reported deaths, though the IDF questioned the accuracy of this figure.

The situation in northern Gaza remains critical due to a prolonged Israeli military siege, which has cut off essential services such as food, water, and medicine. In response to rocket attacks from Hezbollah, Israel also struck targets in Beirut, Lebanon, and conducted its deepest infantry operation in the country.

Tensions escalated after a drone was launched towards the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu warned Hezbollah, referring to them as Iran’s “proxy,” and stated that the “assassination” attempt would not deter Israel from targeting terrorists and their supporters. Additionally, two drones from Lebanon were intercepted by Israel’s air defenses, causing alarms in Tel Aviv.
