Israel Eases Import Rules for Wireless Devices to Lower Costs

Tel Aviv, Israel – August 21: Israel’s Ministry of Communications has announced new measures to make it easier to import certain wireless devices. This move is part of an effort to increase competition in the communications market and reduce the cost of living.

Devices Exempted from Import Barriers

The Ministry has granted full commercial and personal import exemptions for the following items:

  • Home or office video projectors
  • Gaming consoles
  • Wireless chargers
  • Cochlear implant devices to improve hearing

Additionally, baby sensors with cameras (Baby Sense/Monitor) will be exempted from personal importation.

Reasons for Exemptions

The first three products—video projectors, gaming consoles, and wireless chargers—are exempted due to their compliance with European standards (CE marking). The cochlear implant device is exempted to lower barriers for the disabled population, and the baby sensor is exempted due to high demand and a risk management review.

These changes mean that importers will no longer need to submit applications or obtain approval from the Ministry of Communications to import these items. The Ministry has also published a memorandum to amend wireless telegraph regulations to fully exempt these items.
