Israel and Hezbollah Clash: Rockets Fired and Airstrikes Continue
Tel Aviv, Israel – Israel continues to strike Hezbollah positions in Lebanon while the Iran-backed group fires rockets at Israeli cities like Haifa and Nahariya. The Israeli Air Force has targeted over 1,600 sites, including missile launchers and command posts, some located inside civilian homes.
Israeli artillery and tanks also hit Hezbollah targets near the border. On Monday, 210 rockets were fired into Israel, causing injuries from shrapnel and panic attacks. The Israeli Cabinet declared a ‘special emergency situation,’ closing schools in Haifa and northern Israel and banning small vessels in the Sea of Galilee.
Numerous foreign airlines have suspended flights to and from Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Israel has called on residents of southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley to flee homes where Hezbollah stores missiles. The IDF released footage of an airstrike destroying a cruise missile hidden in a civilian home.
Sarit Zahavi, president of the Alma Research Center, explained that Hezbollah uses civilian homes for military purposes. Northern residents have evacuated due to ongoing rocket and drone attacks, which have killed 26 civilians and 22 soldiers. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah stated the attacks will continue to prevent Israelis from returning home.
Israeli officials are calling for Hezbollah’s disarmament in compliance with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
