Israel and Hezbollah Clash: Over 558 Dead in Lebanon, Including 50 Children

The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that recent Israeli military strikes on Lebanon have resulted in 558 fatalities, including 50 children, and 1,835 injuries. This information was reported by Al Jazeera.

In response to the strikes, Hezbollah fired a barrage of missiles at Israeli air bases. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that they struck more than 1,600 targets in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley, including missile launchers, command posts, and other terror infrastructure, some of which were located inside civilian homes.

Israeli artillery and tanks also targeted Hezbollah positions near the border areas of Ayta ash Shab and Ramyeh. On Monday, 210 rockets were fired into Israel, causing several injuries from shrapnel and panic attacks as people sought shelter.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health had earlier reported 182 deaths and over 700 injuries from Israeli strikes. Women, children, and medics were among those killed. The IDF announced widespread airstrikes against Hezbollah targets and warned civilians to move away from homes used by the Iran-backed group to store weapons.

Israeli officials have called for Hezbollah to be disarmed and removed from southern Lebanon in compliance with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
