Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir), October 1: Irshad Rasool Kar, the National Conference candidate from Sopore, cast his vote today in the third and final phase of the Assembly elections. He encouraged people to vote, emphasizing the importance of the democratic process for development and rights.

Irshad Rasool Kar, who joined the National Conference in 2019 in the presence of party president Farooq Abdullah, had previously contested the 2014 Assembly polls as an independent candidate. He was formerly the PDP district president of Baramulla.

The third phase of voting saw a 44.08% voter turnout by 1 pm, with Udhampur recording the highest at 51.66% and Baramulla the lowest at 36.60%. Other districts like Kathua, Samba, Bandipore, Jammu, and Kupwara also participated actively.

The elections feature alliances such as the National Conference and Congress, with other major parties like the PDP and BJP also in the fray. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
