In Jalandhar, Punjab, the investigation into the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique has revealed details about a fourth accused. Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA from Bandra West, was shot dead on Saturday night. His son, Zeeshan Siddique, is the current MLA from Bandra East.

Details of the Accused

The murder was executed by three shooters. Gurmel Singh, from Narad village in Haryana, and Dharmaraj have been arrested. The third shooter, Shivkumar, is still at large. A fourth accused, Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar from Shakar village in Nakodar, Punjab, has been linked to the case. Akhtar was previously arrested in 2022 for organized crime, murder, and robbery.

Statements from Authorities

SSP Jalandhar Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, stated, “Through media reports, we learned that the fourth accused belongs to our area. He has a criminal background with nine cases against him.”

Further Arrests and Investigations

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested Pravin Lonkar from Pune, who is connected to the murder. Pravin is the brother of Shubham Lonkar, also involved in the conspiracy. They allegedly hired Dharmaraj Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam to kill Siddique.

An ossification test confirmed that Dharmaraj Kashyap is not a minor. The accused revealed that Zeeshan Siddique was also a target, and they were ordered to shoot both him and Baba Siddique. Zeeshan had received threats before the incident.

Final Rites

Baba Siddique’s last rites were conducted with full state honors in Mumbai at Bada Qabrastan.
