Internet Shutdown in Assam for Grade III Exam on September 29
On Sunday, September 29, mobile internet services in Assam will be suspended from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm during a written examination for Grade III recruitment. Voice calls and broadband services will remain functional.
Ajay Tewari, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, announced this measure to ensure a fair and transparent examination process and to prevent any law and order issues. The suspension is in accordance with Section 5(2) of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, and the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services Rules, 2017.
The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will conduct the exam on behalf of the State Level Recruitment Commission for Class III. The exam will take place in 27 districts, with 7,34,080 candidates appearing in two shifts. The first shift, for Bachelor’s Degree Level Class-III posts, will be from 9 am to 12 noon, and the second shift, for HSLC (driver) posts, will be from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The exams will be held in 822 centers across Assam, including some with a history of cheating.
The government aims to ensure that the examination is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner to select the best candidates based on merit.
