International Buddhist Media Conclave in New Delhi Highlights Lord Buddha’s Teachings
The International Buddhist Media Conclave was held in New Delhi, organized by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF). The theme of the event was ‘Mindful Communication for Conflict Avoidance and Sustainable Development’.
Keynote Address by S Gurumurthy
S Gurumurthy, Chairman of VIF, explained the difference between philosophy and ideology, emphasizing that philosophy brings people together while ideology creates division. He highlighted the need to address the root causes of conflicts, intolerance, and misinformation in the contemporary world.
Distinguished Guests and Participants
The event saw over 200 delegates, including 47 international participants from 20 countries. Notable attendees included three-time Grammy awardee Ricky Kej, who inaugurated the event, and Bhaichung Bhutia, former Captain of the Indian National Football team, who was the Guest of Honour. Bhutia emphasized the universal message of peace and sacrifice in Buddhism.

Speakers included Buddhist and other denomination media practitioners, professors, and communication heads from various countries. Arvind Gupta, Director of VIF, stressed the importance of thought and action in restoring civilizational values. He noted that Hinduism and Buddhism offer rich philosophies that can provide alternatives to Western materialism.

IBC Secretary General Shartse Khensur Rinpoche Jangchup Choeden called for a world driven by truthfulness, compassion, and altruism, key attributes of Buddha’s teachings. IBC Director General Abhijit Halder highlighted the enthusiastic response to the event and announced plans for a larger-scale conclave in the future.
