Indore Sets World Record by Planting Over 11 Lakh Trees in a Day
Indore, a city in Madhya Pradesh, India, has achieved a remarkable feat by planting more than 11 lakh saplings within 24 hours, setting a new world record. This accomplishment highlights Indore’s dedication to environmental sustainability and reinforces its reputation as the cleanest city in India.
Official Recognition
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav received the official certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records. He expressed his gratitude and congratulated the citizens of Indore for their participation in this historic event.
Breaking the Previous Record
Guinness World Record’s consultant, Nishchal Barot, mentioned that the previous record was held by Assam, where 926,000 saplings were planted in a single day. Indore surpassed this record by 5:00 pm on the same day.
Extensive Planning and Execution
The plantation drive took place at the Revati Range, which was divided into 9 zones and 100 sub-zones. The event was monitored through 100 cameras, and it took 46 days of preparation by the administration.
Community Involvement
Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava congratulated the citizens, BSF soldiers, and over 200 social, educational, religious, and business organizations that participated in the drive. The vision for planting 11 lakh saplings was conceived on May 27, and after 46 days of hard work, the goal was achieved.
