In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the number of patients with seasonal diseases and COVID-19 is increasing. Dr. Bhure Singh Setia, Chief Medical and Health Officer, reported 18 dengue cases, three COVID-19 cases, and one case each of swine flu and chikungunya.

Dr. Setia explained, “In the last two days, three female patients have been tested positive for COVID-19. These women got themselves tested at private hospitals in the city. Of these, two women were admitted to the hospital for their other disease, later found to be COVID-19 positive and are undergoing treatment. While one woman is in isolation at home.”

Efforts are underway to control mosquito larvae using drones and spraying. Dr. Setia added, “It is rainy season; there is waterlogging at various places in which larvae thrive so we should release those accumulated water. We have also called drones, through which larvae are being detected in the water accumulated on the roof of big buildings. The team of the malaria department is searching and spraying medicine to eliminate the larvae.”

In Jabalpur, 11 swine flu cases were detected between July 11 and August 6, with nine patients recovered and discharged. Sanjay Mishra, Joint Director, Health Services Jabalpur, stated, “There is no need to panic about the disease but it is necessary to be cautious as it transfers from one person to another through air. Therefore, those who are tested positive should stay isolated in the hospital and avoid staying at home.”

Health officials advise caution and isolation for those infected and recommend that people with cold, cough, and fever avoid crowded places and consult a doctor.
