IndiGo and Akasa Airlines Face Security Alerts Amid Hoax Bomb Threats
On October 28, IndiGo Airlines received security alerts for 15 of its flights, prompting the airline to take necessary precautions in coordination with authorities. The affected flights included routes such as Delhi-Istanbul and Jeddah-Mumbai. IndiGo assured that safety protocols were followed and expressed regret for any inconvenience to passengers.
Similarly, Akasa Airline faced a bomb threat on a Bengaluru to Ayodhya flight, which landed safely at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. Authorities conducted thorough inspections, finding no suspicious items. Airport Director Vinod Kumar confirmed the completion of checks.
Earlier, on October 24, IndiGo had received warnings for 20 flights, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an advisory to curb hoax threats. MeitY emphasized the responsibility of social media platforms to remove unlawful content under the IT Act and related guidelines.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed concern over the rise in hoax threats, assuring strict action against perpetrators. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring air travel safety.
