India’s Women Cricket Team Wins Record-Breaking Test Match Against South Africa

India’s women’s cricket team achieved a record-breaking victory against South Africa in a one-off Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. India set a record with a score of 525/4 on Day 1, thanks to a 292-run opening partnership by Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana.

Despite South Africa’s strong fight, led by Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus, India secured a 10-wicket win. Head coach Amol Muzumdar praised both teams for their efforts in a match that tested their character.

Record-Breaking Day 1

India’s women’s team made history by scoring 525/4 on the first day, the highest total in women’s cricket. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana’s 292-run partnership was the highest opening stand in women’s Test cricket.

South Africa’s Response

South Africa was all out for 266 in their first innings but showed resilience in their second innings. Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus put up a 190-run partnership, with Wolvaardt scoring 122 and Luus 109.

India’s Victory

India imposed a follow-on and bowled out South Africa for 373 in their second innings. India chased the 37-run target in 9.2 overs, winning by 10 wickets. Muzumdar praised both teams for their performance in a match that showcased the true spirit of cricket.
