India’s Ravi Rongali Shines at Paris Paralympics, Avani Lekhara Wins Gold
In the men’s shot put F40 final at the Paris Paralympics, Ravi Rongali from India finished fifth with a personal best throw of 10.63 meters. Despite his impressive performance, he narrowly missed out on a medal.
In the Para Rowing PR3 Mixed Double Sculls Final, India’s Anita and Narayana Konganapalle finished 8th overall with a timing of 8:16.96, placing 2nd in Final B.
Rakshita Raju, who participated in the para athletics women’s 1500m T11-Round 1 run, Heat 3, finished 4th with a timing of 5:29.92 and did not qualify for the finals.
So far, India has secured a total of five medals at the ongoing Paris Paralympics. Rubina won a bronze medal in the P2-Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final with 211.1 points. Avani Lekhara struck gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final with a personal best of 249.7 points. Mona Agarwal also won a bronze medal in the same event. Manish Narwal earned a silver medal in the men’s P1 10m air pistol SH1 competition. Preeti secured a bronze medal in the T35 100m race with a personal best of 14.21 seconds.
This year, India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever, comprising 84 athletes across 12 sports. This marks a significant increase in both participation and medal hopes, as India aims to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo 2020, where the country won 19 medals, including five golds, eight silvers, and six bronzes.
