India’s Para-Badminton Team Shines in Paris Paralympics, Aiming for More Medals in Los Angeles 2028

New Delhi, India – India para-badminton coach Gaurav Khanna expressed his happiness with the performance of the shuttlers in the Paris Paralympics. The team secured five medals, improving from the four medals won in Tokyo. Khanna is optimistic about winning more than ten medals in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics.

India’s para-shuttlers won one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals in Paris. Although the target was at least eight medals, Khanna is pleased with the progress and believes the goal will be achieved in the next Paralympics.

Para-shuttler Nitesh Kumar won a gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category by defeating Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell. Nitesh discovered his passion for badminton while studying at IIT-Mandi and chose sports over a corporate career.

Suhas Yathiraj, who won a silver medal in the men’s singles SL4 category, expressed his pride but wished for a gold medal. He was defeated by France’s Lucas Mazur in the final. Suhas is hopeful that India will win 25-30 medals in the ongoing Paralympics.

Thulasimathi Murugesan won a silver medal in the women’s singles SU5 category in her Paralympics debut. She dedicated her medal to her father and aims to improve her game by correcting her mistakes.

Nithya Sre Sivan, who won a bronze medal in the SH6 category, expressed her joy and pride in her debut appearance at the Paralympics.
