India’s New Vertical Solar Farms: A Game Changer for Farming and Clean Energy

New Delhi, India – A new partnership between Yashika Energy Systems, Next2Sun Germany, and Wattkraft India aims to transform renewable energy in India. This collaboration was formalized during the 4th RE-INVEST Global Renewable Energy Meet and Expo in Gujarat, organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The partnership introduces vertical solar technology that allows for dual land use, enabling farmers to continue agricultural activities while generating clean energy. This approach addresses concerns over land usage in conventional solar installations, which often displace valuable agricultural land.

Yash Kishorkumar Gupta of Yashika Energy Systems stated, “By implementing Next2Sun’s innovative vertical bifacial Agri-PV systems, we will enable dual land use–allowing farmers to continue agricultural activities while also generating renewable energy.”

With support from both Indian and German governments, pilot projects ranging from 100 kWp to 500 kWp will be launched across India. These projects aim to showcase the effectiveness of vertical bifacial solar technology in different regions.

Sascha Krause-Tunker, CFO of Next2Sun AG, emphasized the far-reaching impact of the partnership, stating, “We believe this will inspire others to adopt similar solutions and transform how we think about land use and energy production.”

This initiative aligns with India’s ambitious climate goals, including reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

Doubts Revealed

Vertical Solar Farms -: Vertical solar farms are special solar panels that stand upright like walls. They can catch sunlight from both sides and are placed in a way that allows farming to happen on the same land.

Yashika Energy Systems -: Yashika Energy Systems is a company in India that works on creating and improving solar energy technology.

Next2Sun Germany -: Next2Sun Germany is a company from Germany that makes special vertical solar panels. They are helping India with this new technology.

Wattkraft India -: Wattkraft India is another company in India that works with solar energy. They are partnering with Yashika Energy Systems and Next2Sun Germany for this project.

Dual Land Use -: Dual land use means using the same piece of land for two purposes. In this case, it means using the land for both farming and generating solar energy.

Renewable Energy -: Renewable energy is energy that comes from sources that won’t run out, like the sun or wind. It is better for the environment than using coal or oil.

Pilot Projects -: Pilot projects are small, test versions of a new idea. They help to see if the idea works well before making it bigger.

Indian and German Governments -: The Indian and German governments are the groups of people who run the countries of India and Germany. They are supporting this new solar farm project.
