According to a report by TeamLease EdTech, the hiring intent for freshers rose to 32% in the second half of 2024, up from 27% in the first half. This growth is driven by deeper market penetration into rural and semi-urban areas, with the industry projected to grow from USD 263 billion in 2019-20 to USD 535 billion by 2025-26, at a CAGR of 12.6%.
Key product segments such as dairy, RTE (Ready-to-Eat) foods, frozen meat, and snacks are creating new job roles in supply chain and market research. Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech, highlighted the demand for fresh talent due to the expansion in rural and semi-urban markets. FMCG companies are focusing on skills in market insights, retail distribution, and regional consumer understanding.
Specific roles like food engineers in Bengaluru have a hiring intent of 41%, logistics coordinators in Delhi at 39%, supply and distribution chain positions in Hyderabad at 37%, and brand management trainees in Bengaluru at 34%. These roles require technical knowledge in supply chain, inventory, and logistics management, along with adaptability and communication skills.
The survey included 526 companies across 18 industries in India, covering 14 geographical areas, reflecting the hiring sentiment in metros, tier-1, and tier-2 centers.
