India’s Dammu Ravi Joins BRICS Meeting Hosted by Russia
New Delhi [India], August 8: India’s BRICS Sherpa, Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi, participated in a meeting hosted by Russia, which holds the BRICS chairmanship for 2024. The meeting took place in Nizhny Novgorod and was the first foreign assignment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term.
The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, shared on X that Dammu Ravi conveyed India’s views on various issues discussed in the BRICS format.
The BRICS Foreign Ministers, including representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with new members Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia, condemned terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment to combating it. They specifically condemned the terrorist attack on March 22, 2024, at Crocus City Hall in Moscow.
The ministers emphasized that terrorism should not be linked to any religion, nationality, civilization, or ethnic group and called for accountability for those involved in terrorist activities.
