India’s Bowling Coach Paras Mhambrey Talks About Strategy Against Australia in T20 World Cup
Gros Islet [St Lucia], June 24: India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, discussed the possibility of using four spinners in knockout games of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. He believes that with proper execution, India can defeat Australia in their upcoming match.
A win against Australia will secure India’s top spot in Group 1, while a loss could allow Australia or Afghanistan to overtake them. The match will take place at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Mhambrey emphasized the importance of implementing plans against Australia. He stated, “If you’re as close to execution, you will win every game.” He also mentioned that many Indian players have experience playing against Australia in the IPL, which will help in their approach.
Kuldeep Yadav, who did not play in the league stage due to pacer-friendly surfaces in New York, has taken five wickets in the last two Super 8 matches. Mhambrey praised Kuldeep’s performance, saying, “He’s always been a class bowler.”
India’s decision to include four spinners in their 15-player squad has been questioned by some fans and former cricketers. Mhambrey explained that the decision to field three or four spinners will depend on the surface conditions.
Despite the success of the bowlers, the performance of seasoned players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been a concern. Mhambrey defended their contributions, highlighting their intent and strategic roles in the team.
Currently, India leads Group 1 with four points, followed by Australia and Afghanistan with two points each, while Bangladesh has yet to win a Super Eight match.
