India’s Athletes Get Air Conditioners in Paris Olympics, Win Three Bronze Medals in Shooting
Amid hot and humid conditions in Paris, the Sports Ministry of India has provided 40 air conditioners to Indian athletes staying at the Olympic Village. This decision was made in collaboration with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the French Embassy to ensure the athletes’ comfort and better performance.
The air conditioners are plug-and-play units, and athletes have already started using them. The cost is being funded by the Sports Ministry.
India’s Medal Wins in Shooting
In the ongoing Paris Olympics, India has secured three bronze medals in shooting:
- Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event, becoming India’s first-ever woman shooter to win an Olympic medal in this event.
- Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol (mixed team) event, marking India’s first-ever medal in team shooting.
- Swapnil Kusale won a bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3P event, becoming the first Indian shooter to win a medal in this event.
These achievements mark India’s best performance in shooting at the Olympics, surpassing the previous best at the 2012 London Olympics.
