India’s Ambassador Adarsh Swaika Meets New Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Kuwait
On August 27, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, met with the new Governor of Ahmadi Governorate, Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. During the meeting, Ambassador Swaika informed the Governor about the significant contributions of the Indian community in the region.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait shared on social media, “Amb @AdarshSwaika1 called on H.E. Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the new Governor of Ahmadi Governorate. Amb congratulated the Governor on his appointment and apprised him of contributions of the large Indian community in his Governorate.”
India and Kuwait have a long-standing friendly relationship, with India being one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Kuwait after its independence in 1961. The Indian community in Kuwait, numbering around 1 million, is the largest expatriate group in the country and is highly regarded.
Earlier, on August 19, Ambassador Swaika met with Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, who is also the Defence and Interior Minister. They discussed issues related to the Indian community and the prospects of bilateral defence cooperation.
On August 18, India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, visited Kuwait. He met with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, thanking them for their support in strengthening bilateral relations. Jaishankar also met with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, to explore ways to deepen ties between the two nations.
During his visit, Jaishankar interacted with the Indian community in Kuwait and praised their achievements and contributions. The Ministry of External Affairs noted that Jaishankar’s visit provided new momentum to the bilateral relationship and set the stage for future exchanges and collaborations.
