Indian Wrestler Antim Panghal Sent Home from Paris Olympics for Rule Violation

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has decided to send wrestler Antim Panghal and her support staff back to India due to a disciplinary breach. Antim gave her Olympic Village accreditation to her sister, which led to a complaint from French authorities.

Earlier in the day, Antim lost her match to Turkey’s Zeynep Yetgil in the women’s 53 kg freestyle round of 16 bout. The Turkish wrestler won on technical superiority.

In another setback, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the 50 kg women’s wrestling event for breaching the weight mark. Vinesh was scheduled to compete against the United States’ Sarah Ann Hildebrandt in the gold medal match after defeating Cuba’s Yusneylis Guzman Lopez in the semi-finals.

India has won three bronze medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics so far.
