Indian U18 Rugby Teams Head to Malaysia for Asia Rugby U18 7s Championship

The U18 Indian Boys and Girls Rugby teams are gearing up to compete in the Asia Rugby U18 7s Championship, scheduled for September 28-29, 2024, in Malaysia. The teams, led by Charan Hembram and Vijayshree Rathore, have departed for Malaysia after completing a 30-day national camp in Kolkata.

Rahul Bose, President of the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU), congratulated the players, stating, “Many congratulations to the boys and girls who have made it to the U18 Indian national team. This cohort of players, part of the federation’s age-grade teams, are paramount as they represent the future of rugby in our country and shall be donning the Indian jersey for the first time. We wish them the very best.”

The final squads for the championship were announced earlier this week, featuring a mix of experienced and debutant players. The boys’ team will compete against UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia, while the girls’ team will face UAE, Hong Kong China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
