Indian Stock Markets Open Flat Amid Global Volatility

On October 30, the Indian stock markets opened with little change as domestic and foreign investors showed mixed buying and selling trends. The Nifty 50 index started at 24,371.45 points, a drop of 95.40 points or 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex opened at 80,237.85 points, down by 131.18 points or 0.16%.

Global Volatility and US Elections

Experts have noted increased global volatility across all assets as the US elections approach, with no clear trends emerging. Ajay Bagga, a banking and market expert, advises sticking to long-term investments in quality companies despite the short-term uncertainty.

Sectoral Performance

Most sectoral indices opened with declines, except for Nifty FMCG and Nifty Media. In the Nifty 50 list, 19 shares advanced while 31 declined. Maruti Suzuki shares rose by about 2% after a previous decline, while major pharma companies like Cipla, Dr. Reddy’s, and Sun Pharma were among the top losers.

Quarterly Announcements

Several major companies, including Larsen & Toubro, Tata Power, Dabur India, Aditya Birla Capital, and DCM Shriram, are set to announce their second-quarter results today.

Market Recovery

Experts suggest that the market recovery seen on Tuesday may continue. Akshay Chinchalkar from Axis Securities highlighted a potential for near-term recovery based on historical patterns and recent market behavior.
