Gagan Narang Praises Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale

Paris [France], August 3: Former Indian shooter and Olympic medalist Gagan Narang, who is also the country’s chef-de-mission for the Paris Olympics 2024, praised the Indian shooting team for their outstanding performances. The Indian shooters have already won three bronze medals at the ongoing competition.

Manu Bhaker narrowly missed out on a third medal, finishing fourth in the 25m pistol shooting event. However, she made history by becoming the only Indian to win two medals at the same Olympic Games. Manu secured a medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event and another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed-team event with Sarabjot Singh. These medals were historic as Manu’s solo medal was India’s first-ever shooting medal by a woman, and the mixed-team medal was India’s first-ever team shooting medal.

Swapnil Kusale also won a bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, adding to the celebrations for Indian sports fans. Gagan Narang recalled competing with Swapnil in 2017 and expressed his joy at seeing him achieve his dream of winning an Olympic medal.

Gagan also praised Arjun Babuta, who finished fourth in the men’s 10m air rifle event. He called this the greatest performance by Indian shooters in the history of the Games.

With Swapnil Kusale’s bronze medal, the Indian shooting team has delivered its best-ever performance in Olympic history. Previously, India’s best performance in shooting was at the 2012 London Olympics, where Vijay Kumar won a silver medal and Gagan Narang won a bronze medal. India’s first-ever shooting medal was won by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in 2004, followed by Abhinav Bindra’s historic gold in 2008.
