Indian Shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta Aim for Medals in Paris
Indian shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta will compete in the final round of the 10 m air rifle events in Paris on Monday. Ramita secured her spot with a fifth-place finish in the women’s event, while Arjun came seventh in the men’s event.
On Sunday, Ramita scored 631.5 points to make it to the finals. Unfortunately, Elavenil Valarivan faced another defeat in the same event. Earlier, Elavenil and Sandeep Singh finished 12th in the mixed team event.
Arjun Babuta, a 25-year-old from Chandigarh, scored 630.1 points in the qualification round to earn his place in the final. He will compete in the eight-shooter final on Monday.
Manu Bhaker made history by winning India’s first-ever shooting medal by a woman, earning a bronze in the 10 m air pistol event with a score of 221.7. She will also compete in the mixed team competition with Sarabjot Singh.
South Korea’s Ye Jin won the gold medal with an Olympic record of 243.2 points, while Kim Yeji took silver with 241.3 points. On the opening day, Bhaker finished third in the qualification round, while Rhythm Sangwan finished 15th.
