Indian shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon did not qualify for the women’s skeet shooting finals at the Paris Olympics. Maheshwari, the current Asian Games bronze medalist, was in contention to finish among the top six players but slipped to 14th place with a total of 118/125 points after three misses in the final round. Raiza Dhillon, despite improving on day two, finished 23rd with a score of 113/125 points.

In the men’s skeet event, Anantjeet Singh Naruka also failed to make it to the final.

India has secured three bronze medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics. Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in this event. Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker also won a bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, marking India’s first-ever team shooting medal. Swapnil Kusale won a bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3P event, becoming the first Indian to win a medal in this category.

This performance marks India’s best-ever in Olympic shooting history, surpassing the previous best at the 2012 London Olympics where Vijay Kumar won a silver in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event and Gagan Narang won a bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle event. India’s first shooting medal was a silver by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in the men’s double trap at the 2004 Athens Olympics, followed by Abhinav Bindra’s historic gold in the men’s 10m air rifle at the Beijing Olympics, which was India’s first individual gold in any sport.
